Passive Zelda fans may not know this, but the console Zelda games (starting with Ocarina of Time and moving forward) all use various Hylian alphabets – which are seen on posts, signs, crates, all sorts of different things (the alphabet in A Link to the Past is gibberish and doesn’t really translate to anything). And in each game, the script is different. In other words, the Hylian language really does change with the different eras (as hinted in The Wind Waker).
In a Zelda movie, it would be best if this alphabet was present because it would make it seem more real. I don’t know if it would need to be as extensive as the Lord of the Rings (where small details that would never be caught on film were inscribed using Tolkien’s languages). But nonetheless, I believe that it would be good to use the Hylian scripts according to the era of the setting. If this is the same as the games, it should be the same as the alphabet in that game. If it’s an entirely new setting, perhaps it would be a new alphabet – or just a modified version of an existing one.
